ECHOOFSMOKY
STAIRWELLS

Echo of Smoky Stairwells (from rus. ekhoprokurennykhpodezdov — EPP) was one of the most sophisticated narrators in sad rap, weaving self-ironic yet brutally honest stories. His prophetic world, captured in his final releases, became even more haunting after his unexpected passing. We are proud to present our dedicated effort to preserve and systematize his legacy.

Check out the second vinyl released by Voices Archive.

MATERIALS ↆ

There are way too many secrets surrounding the final posthumous release of EPP. One of them is an early alternative version of the album cover (1), created by Egor Hound.

In general, the cover consists of two parts, and when compared to the final version (2), it becomes clear that the main illustration remained the same (3). However, Andrey found skulls (4) to be overused, so the final version instead featured a weapon (5).

Fan art has always played an important role in the development of a music scene. However, it is far more unusual when professional or semi-professional artists contribute independently. Dimitrieva K. M. brought her own perspective to the evolving aesthetic of vyshel pokurit, reflecting her understanding of the transition between the albums izvini (“sorry”) and krematsiya (“cremation”).
